Control of Horses Statistics are provided by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is a collation of data provided by Local Authorities.
The number of horses seized under the Control of Horses Act 1996 since 2016 is declining, however, the figures do not include seizures by Gardaí made in conjunction with rescue organisations, so it is difficult to get a true picture of the number of horses removed from a public area. We will endeavour to obtain those figures, if available.
