Meet Rachel Merrigan, the Talented Artist behind Animal Law Ireland’s New Logo and Branding

About Animal Law Ireland

Animal Law Ireland was established in September 2019. Our initial website featured a basic homemade logo—a stereotypical image of scales.

Fast forward to 2024, and our website was overdue for a vibrant and professional upgrade that truly reflects our mission: empowering people to help animals, wildlife, and the environment – “Knowledge is power, empower yourself“.

New Logo and Branding

We needed a new logo and branding that better represents Animal Law Ireland. Our goal was to create something visually appealing, unique, modern, and reflective of our objectives.

Collaborating with Rachel Merrigan

We reached out to Irish artist Rachel Merrigan for this task and were absolutely delighted with the result. Animals are at the heart of what we do.

Why We Love the New Logo and Branding

The new Animal Law Ireland logo and branding incorporate geometric shapes, vibrant colors, and a clean font. The heart shape symbolises our love for animals, while the bold red color stands out. The geometric design conveys a sense of power and empowerment. The flexibility of the logo allows for the use of multiple colors and transparency, and the font pairs nicely with the geometric, clean lines. We also love how the logo works so well with the suggested complimentary colour scheme provided by Rachel.

About Rachel Merrigan

Rachel Merrigan is an experienced and talented Irish artist, fine art printer, and graphic designer. With a degree in Visual Communications and an MA in Professional Design Practice, Rachel has worked in graphic design for over 20 years with agencies, in-house teams, and both large and small brands. She is also an educator, having taught branding, editorial design, and typography at both tertiary and secondary levels.

Why we love the new Animal Law Ireland Logo and Branding

We love the geometric shape, the colours and the font. The heart shape represents our love of animals, the bold red colour stands out.

The geometric shape conveys the image of power, empowering. We also love the flexibility in the logo in being able to use multiple colours/transparency. The font pairs nicely with the geometric and clean lines feel.

Rachel’s Graphic Design Work

Rachel has a degree in Visual Communications and an MA in Professional Design Practice and has worked as a graphic designer for over 20 years, within agencies, in-house, large and small brands.
